Made It Through First Transfers!

What a whirlwind this week has been. We had 26 missionaries go home and 17 arrive. It was so much fun having them in our home for lots of meals. The ovens in the mission home don't quite work so crock pots and roasters saved the day.

We were able to go to the Houston Temple with the missionaries returning home. Although we were with them only a month, we grew to love them and recognize how amazing they are. We are excited to serve with the new missionaries that just arrived.They are a great group of Elders and Sisters ready to serve with all their heart.

The assistants have been beyond helpful. We literally would have been lost without them.

The rain is unlike anything we have experienced. I think Houston doesn't know how to rain lightly. Its a down pour without warning.

The learning curve has been straight up but we are loving working with the missionaries. One of the fun things for me has been to get to know the sisters by taking them to lunch. One companionship asked me halfway through lunch if the reason I was there was because they were in trouble. I let them know they weren't. They were quite relieved.

A Miracle of Miracles

I decided this week to go back one more time to our mission home which was destroyed by the flood. As I pulled into the driveway I was not expecting to feel the flood, yes the flood of emotions that went through me. I wept as I walked into what was the most beautiful home just two months ago and the spirit in the home which was so tangible. This was to be our home for the next three years and it had felt so peaceful. It was in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of gorgeous trees and pathways to walk or bike. There was a stabbing pain inside of me as I walked through the home that day. It didn't make any sense. What had just happened? Nothing in the home had belonged to us except for some sentimental things we had brought with us. Everything was gone. From Wet to Dry and Dry is Good!

It has been much too long since I have posted anything and I am back to sharing our mission experiences. We are pretty much settled in the new mission home and it feels so good to have some sense of order in our lives. The flood bins are finally emptied out. We are very grateful for the support of so many who have helped us move in. The neighborhood is very friendly. Our first week here, a cute young couple from next door came over to welcome us into the neighborhood. They gave us a bottle of wine to welcome us. I thanked them for it and invited them in and we began to visit. I explained to them why we were here and if they had heard of our church before. He said yes and that he had worked with some members before and he knew we didn't drink wine so as they were leaving he said he would take it back. He was very kind about it. Day of Service

Today was an amazing day! Having a 30 minute Sacrament meeting was awesome followed by a day of service! The 14 missionaries which were in Lake Charles, LA have now been moved back to Vidor. So 8 of the 14 missionaries are back in their regular apartments in Vidor. The 6 missionaries from Beaumont will hopefully be moving back to Beaumont tomorrow or the next day. We still have a threesome from Orange who have been in Welsh, LA. and should be able to move back to their apartment on Tuesday. It has been quite eventful.
