"Expect Miracles"

Here we go.  We are very excited to be able to share our experiences here in Texas with those who would like to be made aware and enjoy this journey with us.  I think this blog thing will be kind of fun to be able to share pictures and stories of and about these incredible, hardworking, obedient, and filled with light missionaries.  We feel so honored to be able to serve with them here at this time.

I have to share about this picture I took.  Our kindest neighbor came by the second day we were here and brought us this most delicious cake of Texas and put a yellow skittle on top to show where we were.  I loved it and I loved the yellow roses!!!  The reason the cake was in the car is because when she brought it over we were locked out and had to get in the car to go to the mission office and get the keys because the garage code wasn't working.  If we left the cake outside for even a minute, it would have melted from the moist air.
We had a mission tour the first week and were able to meet all of the missionaries.  They all have such a light about them and we loved finally being able to meet them after thinking about them for the past almost 7 months since our call.  We felt also that these next three years will be three years to "Expect Miracles."  This is what President talked much about and the missionaries have already been experiencing many miracles.  I will share them as we go along.

Houston is beautiful, green, moist, and did I say moist?  Actually, the humidity hasn't been too much for us because we aren't outside very often and we go from one highly air conditioned building to another.  Now the Elders and Sisters are heroic as they are out riding their bikes and visiting and meeting people in the wonderful moist air.  In fact, the first day we arrived we had some Elders stop by the mission home to meet us and I shook the Elders  hand and it felt like he has just run it under warm water. As I said, its a little moist here. However,  I have not heard one complaint.

It's been so much fun having Addie and Liz here and Addie will start High School at Kingwood High.  For Youth Conference Addie will go to Nauvoo next week which will be such an amazing opportunity for her.  She is doing well adjusting to an unfamiliar yet exciting new world.  Liz has had some wonderful experiences going out with the Sisters and being able to share her testimony with those they are teaching.  It has made her even more excited to serve a mission.

I am excited to do this blog and will keep it updated now that I know what I am doing....kind of.

Love you all....#liftandlove

A Miracle of Miracles

I decided this week to go back one more time to our mission home which was destroyed by the flood. As I pulled into the driveway I was not expecting to feel the flood, yes the flood of emotions that went through me.  I wept as I walked into what was the most beautiful home just two months ago and the spirit in the home which was so tangible.  This was to be our home for the next three years and it had felt so peaceful.  It was in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of gorgeous trees and pathways to walk or bike. There was a stabbing pain inside of me as I walked through the home that day.  It didn't make any sense.  What had just happened?  Nothing in the home had belonged to us except for some sentimental things we had brought with us.  Everything was gone. Although we had only lived there two months, it was as if I needed closure for some reason.  I walked around still in shock of it all.  The pictures below show what the mission hom...

From Wet to Dry and Dry is Good!

It has been much too long since I have posted anything and I am back to sharing  our mission experiences. We are pretty much settled  in the new mission home and it feels so good to have some sense of order   in our lives.  The flood bins are finally  emptied out.  We are very grateful for the support of so many who have helped us move in.  The neighborhood is very friendly.  Our first week here, a cute young couple from next door came over to welcome us into the neighborhood.  They gave us a bottle of wine to welcome us.  I thanked them for it and invited them in and we began to visit.  I explained to them  why we were here and if they had heard of our church before.  He said yes and that he had worked with some members before and he knew we didn't drink wine so as they were leaving he said he would take it back.  He was very kind about it.  We have some amazing neighbors and are excited to be here. We ...

Day of Service

Today was an amazing day!  Having a 30 minute Sacrament meeting was awesome followed by a day of service! The 14 missionaries which were in Lake Charles, LA have now been moved back to Vidor.  So 8 of the 14 missionaries are back in their regular apartments in Vidor.  The 6 missionaries from Beaumont will hopefully be moving back to Beaumont tomorrow or the next day.  We still have a threesome from Orange who have been in Welsh, LA. and should be able to move back to their apartment on Tuesday. It has been quite eventful. Check out www.facebook.com/texashoustoneast for photos of today's service activities.
